Review: That’s My Boy

I’m not sure how, but I had never seen an Adam Sandler film before tonight. Forgive me Father, for I have sinned.

A film that begins with a long-winded pedophilia gag goes downhill rapidly.

Puerile, odious, misogynistic, racist, rotten to the core. Made by people full of utter apathy and hatred, not least to the medium of film.

A little part of my soul just melted. And just as the wax had all burned out, an incest gag  pierces through the melted mess.

And they’re all laughing at us.

I read a review which mentioned that as bad as this film is, it’s not as bad as Sandler’s effort last year, Jack and Jill. While I don’t doubt the accuracy of such a statement, I find it impossible to compute.

Pedophilia can now be used as a trivial gag which can set up a gross out comedy. And that only scratches the surface of what is malevolent about this film.

I feel so broken.
